Ink rev 19, Oh yeah ... this one ... is the beginning :)
Can you see the little bird ? his design was entirely inspire from Chris Scalf techniques, you just draw the outlines of a creature with a small black brush then you select your creature, copy it in another layer, then you use the burn tool on Highlight mode with a BIG brush :)
It makes it get black, then you just play with burn and dodge tool, after that you put some colors with the overlay mode ( almost 8hours )
